Return Policy

At Southern Mess we are committed to customer satisfaction so if  you are unhappy with your order please email us at and we will do everything we can do make it better. 

Detailed Return Policy:

Clean, Unworn, and unused merchandise  that has NOT been monogrammed or personalized can be returned hassle free within 7 days of receipt for store credit in the form of a gift card. Items must still have original tags attached. If shoes were purchased they must be returned in the original box they came in. That box must be put into a larger bag for returns. Please don't attach shipping labels to the boxes-this will make your return ineligible because we will be unable to sell them. The items must also be free of any odors including but not limited to tobacco, perfumes, or body. Items must be free of any animal hair as well. All items that arrive in packaging whether it be boxes or bags must also be returned with that packaging. 

Clearance items are Final Sale as is any Sale item that has been marked 20% off or more from original retail value. This includes items purchased with discount codes and special offers. Please do not send back clearance or sale items as your return will be rejected. Return shipping will be the responsibility of the purchaser. If Southern Mess has to pay additional postage due, it will be deducted from refund along with a $5 inconvenience fee for post office travel.  Once merchandise is received and inspected, a refund will be given in the form of store credit only. Original shipping costs will not be refunded including when paid by Southern Mess. If your item is returned to us after the 7 days, a 15% restocking fee will be added. Returns after 30 days will be rejected and returned to you at a charge. If your item does not meet our return requirements, we will notify you of your options to pay to have it shipped back to you. Unpaid for return rejections will be donated to charity after 14 days and will be considered a forfeit of items. 

If your order contains any free gifts or BOGO offers you must return them all or their dollar amount will be prorated from return credit. 

Please note if you choose to utilize Sezzle as your payment option, it does not change our return policy. Store credit will be issued once your return is accepted. You will still be responsible for all payments that have been setup to break up your purchase price directly with Sezzle. 

The following items are ineligible for returns and All Sales are Final:

-Personalized/Monogrammed items this includes custom orders

-Anything in our Accessories collection including but not limited to jewelry, hats, hair accessories, makeup, bath and body products, sunglasses and undergarments including bralettes and cami tops. Due to the handmade and custom nature, our Makeup Junkie bags and totes are also non returnable. 

- Items discounted 20% or more from original retail price including when coupon codes are used or time of purchase discounts. 

-Holiday items purchased within 14 days of upcoming holiday or after holiday has passed. 

Errors and Manufacturer Defects:

We will pay for return shipping on order errors due to our mistake or defects. If you believe your item has a manufacturer defect please promptly submit pictures of the defect to: within 48 hours of receipt via postal delivery.  Once we receive and inspect the item we will exchange it for another of the same with our sincerest apologies.All original tags must be attached or return will be rejected as well as any reports of defects after the 48 hour time frame. If you notice an item is defective after the 2 day period we can not accept the return.  Items can not be submitted as defective  after wear or once tags have been removed.  

Excessive Return Policy:

If you return more than three (3) items in a calendar month, a 15% restocking/handling/shipping fee will be deducted from the return. We are always available to help you decide which size you need before ordering and are glad to offer our input and guidance. Please contact us at for sizing help 

Returns made from a previous return issued gift card or exchange are only eligible for one additional return. After that, the return will be considered excessive and the 15% restocking/handling fee will apply. 

How to Return an Item: 

1. Be sure you have read our complete return policy to ensure your item (s) are eligible for return.

2. Fill out the Return Form that came in your package completely and follow instructions.  

3. Once we receive your return please allow up to 7 business days for us to review and accept or reject your return. If your return is accepted, you will receive an email with your gift card code. Please treat this code like cash as we are unable to retrieve lost numbers or issue replacement codes. If your item is rejected, we will contact you via email to let you know why and your next steps.
